About Elena
Elena Leggat is a romance novelist based in Canada. Her novels blend strong-willed characters, subtle humor, mystery, and sweeping romance.
I was born into a hardworking family in a small suburb of Perm, Russia. My sisters and I spent much of our childhood outdoors, roaming the fields behind our house, inventing games, creating stories, and losing ourselves in imaginary worlds. Looking back, I realize those adventures were where my imagination first took root.
My love of books began early and was shaped by the timeless works of Charlotte Brontë, Charles Dickens, and Agatha Christie. Their unforgettable characters, rich settings, and compelling stories sparked a passion for reading that eventually grew into a desire to write my own novels.
After moving to Canada, I lived in Quebec, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. Each province has left its mark on me in a different way. Quebec enchants with its European atmosphere and remarkable cuisine. Ontario offers endless lakes, forests, and parks to explore. Nova Scotia captivates with its rugged coastline, breathtaking ocean views, and sunsets that can stop you in your tracks.
When I am not writing, I enjoy cooking wholesome meals, discovering cuisines from around the world, and learning about different cultures. I also love long walks in nature. Fresh air, sunshine, and open spaces have a way of clearing the mind and often provide the inspiration needed to solve a stubborn plot problem or overcome writer's block.
Today, I write sweeping romances filled with adventure, mystery, and unforgettable love stories, drawing inspiration from the places I have lived, the books I have loved, and the endless possibilities of the imagination.
